It might not look like I can wield this thing but [ kaveh has no problem leaving the first move to his adversary. he brings his claymore up to block, the clash of their blades sending sparks flying. ] looks can be deceiving. [ kaveh smirks, leaning forward and throwing his weight into it as he pushes flynn back, so he can take a swing at him. ]
If I listened to everyone who said they were good with weapons, I'd be a lot more scarred up!
[He's teasing Kaveh a little when he's pushed back, letting it happen and going with the motion. He slides back and out of the way of the giant blade. He's at a disadvantage not using artes here.
But, he watches to see if the momentum carries Kaveh, or where he stops the blade.]
[ kaveh's claymore slams hard enough into the ground to kick up some dirt, dust, and debris... and though the greatsword might normally be incredibly heavy to some, kaveh manages to swing it with ease, immediately going for another swing, so if flynn doesn't put some space in between them he's going to get caught by it. ]
I do have a number of friends that are incredible fights, and they do occasionally give me the time of day. Fighting tougher opponents is probably one of the best ways to get stronger.
[As someone who has held a sword and worked with combat himself, he knows that's the truth. He lunges to the side hoping to hit the other while he's extended, but when he goes for another swing, he edges back again pulling his blade to take the brunt of it.
His timing is just slightly off and he's hit, bringing his blade up at the last moment but the hit lands, and that's the first hit. Flynn backs off, rolls his shoulders and grins.]
[ as soon as he manages to land a hit on flynn he moves back to restablish some space in between them so they can start anew. ] Not for long I'm sure. [ now it's kaveh's turn to go on the defensive, since he's ahead. he brings his claymore up in front of him to try to block whatever kind of attack flynn intends to make on him. ] I do have to be careful though, as my hands are quite important in my line of work...
I'm an architect. I don't mind fighting on occasion, but I can't afford to hurt my hands or my wrists.
That is a really important job. I'm a knight myself, so if I end up injured I can't protect people around me.
[Of course, now Flynn is on the offensive. He isn't so much using his shield like he would prefer since they are sparring, so he will make due. The blond knight goes in again quicker than the other, barely worried about the fact now that he's up against someone with a claymore.
He's had time to look at how Kaveh moves, and he goes for the left side with a few quick successive jabs of the blade. Thankfully this isn't a true spar with weapons that could actually hurt each other.]
I do think it should be something left to the professionals. [ he manages to block two of flynn's hit, but since he's on the offensive kaveh can't hold his own against the constant barrage, even as he takes a few steps back in an attempt to put some more space in between them. flynn manages to hit him, earning a smile. ] Like yourself.
If I got involved, then I do think I'd end up doing more harm than good in the long run.
[Flynn draws back and smiles slightly as he nods.]
But sometimes a person with a sharp mind comes along and can really put a wrench in things.
[He knows people like that in the knights who were more technical and he respected them immensely. He decides to continue to go on the offensive, this time lining up and pushing forward with his blade.]
Even so, it's fun to just have time to spar like this and not worry about too many factors.
I'll have to introduce you to my roommate. [ kaveh brings his claymore up to block, although flynn is definitely forcing him backward with each measured strike of his sword. ] He's got it all. Brains, brawn, ...he's a force to be reckoned with on and off the battlefield. [ kaveh continues to defend himself, but eventually he takes the chance to step off to the side, countering one of flynn's strike with a rather harsh blow of his own, trying to knock his sword ( and his stance ) off kilter, so he can turn the tides. ]
[Flynn slides back, but again, not used to Kaveh and his movement patterns the other is able to knock him off balance, staggering the knight as he tries to bring his sword up to block his side.]
He is. He's not a social person though. [ their swords clash and sparks fly... but kaveh continues to go on the attack. he does seem to be getting tired though, so as long as flynn continues to block, then he'll easily be able to outlast him. ]
[They aren't doing bad persay, but it's more of a match and less of a dance like the scientists were looking for. He continued to block, and parry, and swing when he could.
Kaveh gets another point in and Flynn staggers back now the one on the defensive.]
I know. I don’t mind that he’s not. [ it’s part of his charm. ] It does bother some people though… [ he shrugs, letting his claymore drop as he earns another point. kaveh takes a few steps back and resets himself, raising his weapon and leaving flynn to make the first move this time. ]
And besides… it’s almost like we’re each others foils, so it works out.
It's good when you find people like that who compliment you.
[He starts again, going towards Kaveh, blade up and ready as he strikes at Kaveh with quick successive strikes this time. He was going to tire him out if the other wasn't careful.]
