A. Rising Hearts - Tech Expo Wandering

[Flynn wanders almost as if he’s in a trance, but his eyes keep roaming and stopping on anything technology related. He looks like a small child seeing something for the first time, and he pauses to stare at the different pieces of technology.

He cocks his head to the side, sighs and steps back to let everyone else get a good look, but he’s really perplexed by all the technology, a little on guard as well.

He steps over to the side to let more people pass and nearly collides with someone.]

“Oh. Sorry.”

B.1 Promise me a Place - Heartbreak

[Flynn wants to cry out! He watches the emerald crystal descend hitting the white marble floor crushing the man he knew as his leader and the leader of the knights. The impact sends up a large cloud of dust that hangs in the air. He is bodily shoved out of the way, and that’s where the memory goes dark…

After a while, the memory fades back in. Flynn is lying in a hospital ward with the smell of antiseptic in his nose, and his chest bandaged up lightly. Next to him a girl with pink hair sits, hands clasped in front of her face as if she’s praying.]

"Lady Estellise?"

"Flynn! Thank goodness you’re awake."

[He slowly raises himself up into a sitting position, his body heavy from exertion. He’s relieved to see her. But, she’s not the one that’s on his mind. No, he looks around at the room looking for his friend.]

"Where’s Yuri…?"

[Lady Estellise’s face crumples as she presses a hand over her mouth. It takes her a long while before she pulls her hand away, tears shining in her eyes.]

"Your knight said she saw him fall from Zaude."

[Surprise zips through him, then a heaviness in his chest settles and something cracks. He reaches up and presses a hand to the center where the wound was the most tender. The stinging pain is nothing compared to the tremendous ache as he struggles to catch his breath at the news.]

"No."

"Flynn I-"

"No."

"Get Sodia."

"There’s no way he died like that."

[Flynn cuts the girl off, it’s probably the first time he’s been so rude to her. He feels a twinge of regret as he notices her flinch. But he’s in severe pain]

"Please."

[The memory ends there. Flynn blinks and turns looking at the viewer with a rueful smile. ]

“This was a very hard time for me. I’d appreciate it if we can keep it between us. I don’t want to burden Yuri with this.”

B. 2 Promise me a Place - Reforged Connection

“Half of my achievements-or more - are really yours…”

[Yuri sighs and looks down speaking without looking at Flynn.]

“So what? It doesn’t matter who did them.”

[Anger surges, no, not anger, frustration. Flynn’s body goes taut as he answers the other in a rush of words.]

“It does. Why do you always choose the option that’s bad for you? Why do you try to bear everything by yourself? Do you think I can’t take the burden?”

[Do you not need me by your side? The question is the one Flynn is most afraid of asking. So, he backs off and refuses to ask it. To ask it would be to admit something, and it’s still too fresh after nearly losing Yuri to ask. No, he will wait.

Yuri smiles slightly and looks at Flynn causing his breathing to stutter, though he wouldn’t admit it. ]

“...You’re carrying what I can’t. I know I can do what I want only because someone’s watching out for me.”

[Oh. Now he’s at a loss. It’s frustrating, and that frustration flows through him along with a fierce fondness for Yuri. Flynn shakes his head and sighs softly forcing himself to settle down.]

“...Forget it. I can’t explain. I’ll just yell at you again.”

[Yuri grins, unsheathes his sword in his usual quirky way, holding his blade up in front of Flynn in invitation of a fight.]

“Heh heh. In that case, try it like this.”

“Yuri–”

“You’re not going to beat me in an argument. But you know what you can beat me in…This.”

[Fondness explodes in Flynn’s chest.]

“Yeah…You’re right. Just like always.”

[Flynn unsheathes his sword and knocks it against Yuri’s blade. He feels happy, hopeful and all tender feelings. This is familiar. This is them.]

“Everything I feel is in this sword.”

[Both Flynn and Yuri go all out against each other. The spar lasts for several minutes, and surprisingly, or maybe not so surprisingly to Flynn. Yuri bests him and Yuri lets out a surprised utterance of ‘I won?’ Again, it’s no surprise to Flynn. He lies on his back on the ground, panting and catching his breath. Yuri settles next to him after a moment, and both of them take a moment to just relax near each other.

It feels like they’ve connected again. Stronger than before. The memory finally comes to an end.]

[Flynn has his hand over his face. He lets out a shaky sigh and gives a small fond grin, turning to the person who viewed the memory.]

“I didn’t know how much longer we had, or if the plan we had come up with would succeed. But, it did, and now we’re here. You don’t have to explain how embarrassing that was. I already know.”

B.3 - Promise me a Place - Monster Extermination

[There are so many monsters fighting and in the area that the dust from the ground is being kicked up. Hundreds upon hundreds of monsters are concentrated in the area. Flynn takes down a huge bear with large claws with his sword, guarding against any death throes with his shield.]

“Stop them! Show them what the Imperial Knights can do!”

[The knights behind Flynn continue to fight, some of them terrified and some saying this was their doom. Another older knight, Leblanc yells as he continues to fight and let the townspeople flee around them.]

“You idiots! Stop your whining!”

[If only they had reinforcements things would go a lot smoother.]

[OOC: Feel like fighting tons of monsters? This would be a good place to do so! Hop on in and feel free to help Flynn defend the villagers.]

B.4 - Promise me a Place - Flynn Jumping into a Memory

[It’s been a long day.

After everything Flynn has been through he’s really having a hard time concentrating. That’s probably why he finds himself drawn to one of the large portals. It’s gray, doesn’t really look like much, but something feels like it’s tugging him towards it.

So instead of allowing himself to walk away, Flynn steps inside the portal.

The area around him flashes a bright white before slowly fading.]

[OOC: This is for those of you that asked for a top comment and wanted Flynn to see something specific. :) I hope this works.]

C. Rising Hearts - Part 2 ----> ? (Let's see where this goes!) - Locked to Yuri Lowell

Are you sure this is a good idea?

[Flynn asked quietly as he eyed the people around them, and then looked back towards Yuri. He stood there, relaxed in the middle of the ring waiting for the sparring to commence. He stretched and crossed his arms in front of him, pushing his elbows back and crossing his arms stretching them in front.

He hadn't had to do this type of sparring in a long time, but he could. If it meant that they could see if they were the correct rise rating which Flynn didn't doubt.]

C. 2 Rising Hearts ---> Part 2 - Failed Rise Rating | Locked to Kaveh

[He shouldn't be here again.

That is the thought that is echoing in his brain. After what happened...No, he won't think about it. Something else told him he should try again, see if he could get a high rise rating with someone else. That's why he is standing here in the middle of the same sparring ring he stood with Yuri in, and he looks across at the other blonde.

He doesn't know Kaveh, but he nods to him all the same.]

Let's try to get through this together.

[Cor is pretty curious about all this technology as well. Much of it is familiar for him - he had spent much of his life in a 'modern' city back on his home world. But some of it is just as new to the older man as it is for many other folks. He's just minding a stall showing off robotic 'pets' when a younger man almost bumps up against him.]

No worries. I don't blame you for being distracted this time. Guess you're not used to things being this high-tech, either?

Why wouldn't it be?

[ Yuri's at least as nervous as Flynn, but most people wouldn't know it to look at him because he's handling it by being aggressively blase. ]

They said knowing the other person usually helps.

[ They used to be close enough for this; used to be like two halves of... the same person, almost. And he — needs to know whether that's still true, even though the prospect that it might not be...

(Didn't he just go through this, the same fears he had in Nor Harbor.) (But he's been through so much more, he knows he's changed, and—) ]

I'm sorry for this!

[Flynn manifests on a high hill. There's young girl with a wheelbarrow half full of flagstone and some kind of squashed overripe fruit. She huffs looking like she's done for the day and starts to move the wheelbarrow down the path leading down the hill.]

[Flynn takes another step back as he turns to study Cor. He gives him a small smile and looks back at the crowd and then the robotic dogs. He lets out a slow breath.]

No, I'm not. But that doesn't mean that I wasn't rude. I apologize.

[bravestknight]

This is something I've never seen before, no, that we've never messed with before.

[He watches Yuri, really searching his posture, the way he's acting, and he's coming up with a big question mark. But, if Yuri was going to do this, he'd much rather be the person across from him than another one else.]

Yeah, I heard that.

[Letting out a breath, the hesitation leaves him, he relaxes and grins cheekily. It's the type of grin he would never use with anyone else other than Yuri.]

If anything this might make me feel better about our last sparring session back at Aurnion. Don't think I'll go easy on you.

Mn...you're forgiven.

[This young man's manners seem better than many; a nice plus, in Cor's mind. Hence, the half-smile in return.]

Is there any part of it that seems familiar to you?

[Smiling at Cor's mannerisms, he feels something settle in his chest that hadn't just yet. He was so used to being around knights and other people who were more formal, that this place really made him feel out of his depth.

But, Cor seems to be more formal than most. He turns his eyes from Cor back to the technology in front of him, brows pinching as he takes it in yet again.]

No. We don't have anything like this back in my world. We are working on converting from an old system of how things were powered, called aer to something now called mana.

[He shakes his head.]

There is a little bit of advanced technology when it comes to blastia, but I was never really close enough or in a place to deal with it.

[He looks back at Cor.]

What about you, Sir?

[Flynn stands there, watching the girl as she moves and he slowly starts down the hill towards the little girl. He pauses before he tries to call out to her, unsure if he can even interact with this memory at all.]

That looks heavy, would you like some help?

[immortalmarshal]

Mana? Shit, that's an old-ass for magical energy term back home...

[Thank you, Regis, for some of those spontaneous lessons in their shared youth on Ancient Lucian and Solheim]

Much of this is familiar to me. The mechanical vehicles on the ground, the communication devices, how the city's lit up at night - all of that is no different than most of the towns and cities back on my homeworld. You sound like you're form one of those worlds, however, whose magic is a lot more common and free-flowing.

[She stops and brings a hand to her chin as she looks contemplative for a moment. But abruptly she shifts her hands to her hips, her expression turning almost offended.]

I can do it myself!

[The girl grabs the wheelbarrow again and continues down the path, until a large, billowing black cloud can be seen.

Her eyes widen in horror and she's frozen with fear. Her tone is absolutely terrified as she barely musters some words.]

That's in the direction of... No...

Yeah we don't have these 'vehicles' really. Just transport wagons that are driven by animals.

[A small smile comes to his lips at the mention of magic being common and free-flowing.]

I wish that were true. If people didn't have blastia then the artes and structures that needed the power wouldn't have worked. Also, we would have been at a disadvantage when fighting monsters and protecting people.

[He chuckles, reminded somewhat of how Yuri was when he was little with the way she looks. He shakes his head about to retort to her again, but then she starts up and he too notices the billowing black cloud.

Without too much hesitation he moves quickly beside the girl.]

Let's go together.

[He waits for her for a split second before he starts advancing towards the dark billowing cloud down the way.]

'Blasta'...interesting term for it, I'll admit. Though the way you're talking, you sound more like someone who serves the people than be hired by them.

[He also can tell that Flynn seems to have that same kind of bearing - the bearing of a military-type. Color him curious.]

It's just what things like this are called.

[Flynn shows him the ring on his finger. It's a simple band, but there is a stone in the middle the same color of his eyes.]

It allows me to be able to be a match for the monsters in combat by letting me use artes.

[When the other tells him he sounds like someone who serves the people, Flynn gives a small smile and a nod.]

Yes, I am the acting commandant of the Imperial Knights in my world. I'm working my best to repair the damage that was done by my predecessor.

[Alexei. It still hurts to think about him sometimes, but he won't say too much about it to someone he's just met.]

Hm...that's a very interesting way of fighting monsters.

Sounds like you got a lot of work ahead of you when you head back home. Then again, so do I.

[he smiles as he continues.]

[Maybe he could ask Yuri as a way to get more hang out time.]

Our world just nearly ended, if it wasn't for a friend and his friends, we'd be having a different conversation. So, there is definitely a ton to do when I go back.

[He smiles and offers his hand for a shake.]

It's nice to meet you Mr. Leonis, I'm Flynn Scifo. I'm not sure about your title, but I'd love to hear more.

I would be honored to witness such a demonstration.

[And Flynn is befriending yet another person that Yuri befriended first.]

So the notion of saving the world is no stranger to you and yours, then. That's rather helpful to know.

[Cor happily shakes the offered hand, his grip warm and firm.]

Pleasure to meet you, Sir Scifo. Unless you just want to be called Flynn when not on duty? As for my title, I'm basically the person in charge of the royal guard, answering only to the King and the King's Shield.

Oh. Please just call me Flynn.

[He listens and grips Cor's hand giving it a firm shake before letting. He turned back towards the technology display and then hummed gently.]

No we aren't strangers to it. If it wasn't for Yuri and his friends figuring it out, then we wouldn't have even known anything was wrong.

[Alexei would have done more and maybe worse things. He looked over at Cor and shook his head and smiled.]

I'm proud of everything he accomplished.
